Did You Prepare a Checklist For a Job Interview – Jobs

Do not be discouraged if you are not hired after your first interview. This must have been a useful experience and if you consider it a learning, can provide more confidence for the next interview.

Do not blame yourself. Note that an employer’s decision not to offer a job does not mean you have been rejected as a person. Use the keys to a successful interview and open the doors of your job search.

Preparation :

  • Learn about the organization.
  • Keep in mind one or more specific jobs.
  • Review your qualifications for the job.
  • Prepare answers to broad questions.
  • Review your resume.
  • Practice an interview with a friend or relative.
  • Arrive before your scheduled interview time.

Personal Appearance:

  • Present yourself well groomed.
  • Dress properly.
  • Do not chew gum or smoke.

During the interview:

  • Relax and answer each question concisely.
  • Respond immediately.
  • Use good manners. Learn the name of your interviewer and shake hands when they meet.
  • Use an appropriate level of language (avoid too colloquial language).
  • Be cooperative and enthusiastic.
  • Ask questions about the position and the organization.
  • Thank the interviewer when you leave and follow-up, in a note.

Test (if employer gives one):

Listen to the instructions carefully.
Read each question carefully.
Write in legibly and clearly.
Manage your time wisely and do not dwell on any one question.

Information to bring to the interview:

Social Security Card
Government issued identification (driver’s license)
Curriculum vitae
Although not all employers require applicants to submit a curriculum vitae, should be prepared to provide the interviewer about their education, training and previous jobs.

Employers typically require three references. Ask permission before using anyone as a reference. Make sure you give a good reference. Try to avoid using relatives.
